The developers of Grim Dawn, Crate Entertainment, have announced that their next game, Farthest Frontier, will be entering Early Access on August 9. As part of the PC Gaming Show, a fresh new story-driven animated trailer was shown for the city-building game. The trailer encourages players to defend and shepherd a tiny band of pioneers as they establish a settlement at the edge of the known world.

Building a successful homestead will include many challenging tasks, such as gathering raw materials, fishing, hunting, and gardening to stay alive. Players must make crafted objects to trade, consume, equip, and combat while battling against the elements and other dangers. These items may be used for any of these purposes.

The level of detail in Farthest Frontier is exceptionally high, thanks to the wide variety of resources and crops that can be gathered. There are dozens of unique structures that can be used to grow a town, and the in-depth farming system includes everything from soil fertility to seasonal rotations. Whether the game is played on pacifism and avoids conflict entirely or engages with varying degrees of raider difficulty to boost the stakes for the town's survival, the opponents confronted aren't always raiders and foreign armies seeking loot.

The key to surviving is ensuring that the people have access to clean water, which will prevent outbreaks of diseases like dysentery and cholera, and that they are adequately dressed, which will lessen the likelihood that they will catch tetanus, rabies, or frostbite. If players do not sufficiently manage their requirements and acquire food, sickness will begin to spread across the colony.

Players can select the amount of water or mountains they want on extreme maps, resulting in one-of-a-kind challenges. The game offers stunning maps that can be customized entirely and have randomized terrain creation and resource distribution.

Farthest Frontier can be wishlisted on Steam right now, and the game is scheduled to enter Early Access on August 9, 2022.
