Final Fantasy, Gundam Voice Actor Diagnosed With COVID-19

Agency 81 Produce has announced that voice actor Toshihiko Seki has tested positive for COVID-19. Seki has been providing the voice for Final Fantasy’s main original avatar, the Warrior of Light, for over a decade; first taking the role in Dissidia Final Fantasy and most subsequent installments. However, Seki is even better known as Gundam Wing’s Duo Maxwell, both in the anime and every video game adaptation. Other recent roles include Virtua Fighter’s Goh Hinogami and The Evil Within’s Ruvik.

 

It is reported that Seki came down with a serious fever at the end of July and was rushed to the hospital. During admission he was given a COVID-19 test and results turned up positive the first week of August. How the voice actor contracted the disease is unknown, but an investigation is being launched by the Ministry of Health. Hopefully, this will lower the chance of other voice actors and staff becoming infected with the disease.

Seki is currently in stable condition and recovering.
