Square Enix has announced the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, titled Endwalker. The game will continue the story of Shadowbringers, with the Hero of Light giving chase to their old enemy Zenos and the unchained Ascian Fandaniel. The poster job for this expansion is Paladin and hints that players will be heading to the moon on some kind of magic space ship. Before this, players will also explore Radz-at-Han and Garlemald. The trailer goes on to show Alphinaud Leveilluer utilizing the expansion new healer, the Sage that uses magic blades to prevent damage with barriers as well as attack at range. Players who purchase Endwalker can unlock the job after completing the Stormblood story content; it starts at level 70.
While the expansion will raise the level cap to 90, damage calculations and hitpoints will be drastically reduced when the expansion releases. Director Naoki Yoshida explained that this is due to technical issues, as increasing values into the millions would create too many overflow bugs. In addition, the belt slot will be completely removed and be automatically sent to the Calamity Salvager.
The game will also come to PlayStation 5 later this year, improving load times and resolution for console players.
