According to a recent blog post from Epic Games, Fortnite hit a new peak of 3.4 million concurrent players last Sunday, surpassing the previous benchmark set by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with 3.2 million concurrent players. This could explain all the server issues occurring in the game since Sunday.

Fortnite hit a new peak of 3.4 million concurrent players last Sunday… and that didn’t come without issues! This blog post aims to share technical details about the challenges of rapidly scaling a game and its online services far beyond our wildest growth expectations.

While this concurrent player count is a worthy celebration considering PUBG's popularity the Battle Royale portion of Fortnite is free-to-play and PUBG, despite being in early access on Xbox One, is not. Epic recently announced a Fortnite Valentine's Day event coming soon. Including new skins and a new weapon.

Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
