Frictional Games Announces New Amnesia Game
Amnesia: The Bunker, the new entry in the series, has just been announced by Frictional Games.

Frictional Games has announced its latest game, and it’s a new Amnesia game. However, things will be different this time around as Amnesia: The Bunker is described as a semi-open, non-linear world in which the player must experiment and adapt to their environment to try and make their way out alive. It’s a little more action-oriented than previous entries.

The game was revealed in an announcement trailer that shows off some of the more action-oriented gameplay, such as using a revolver to potentially fight off the monsters that are after you. However, the trailer is mostly a thematic piece to give you a taste of the game, and it therefore reveals very little, but the Steam page for Amnesia: The Bunker reveals a lot more, such as the use of explosives to ward off some of the game’s enemies and a possible time mechanic.
Much like other Frictional Games titles, there will be an ever-present monster stalking the player, but this one will be dynamic and change how it reacts over time, perhaps in a similar way to the xenomorph from Alien: Isolation. Furthermore, survival will involve scavenging and attempting to find multiple potential solutions to problems in a world that is randomized and changes between playthroughs. Hopefully this will add some much-needed replayability to these otherwise linear games.
So, if you enjoyed the previous Amnesia games, or the utterly phenomenal and underappreciated Soma, then keep an eye out for more news about Amnesia: The Bunker. The game is currently slated for release in March 2023. Get out there and find some horror!
