Co-Creator of Moral Kombat, Ed Boon, stated that he loved the Killer Instinct franchise. When a fan asked if a crossover was possible Boon responded that if made it would be an Xbox One exclusive.
This isn't a confirmation from Boon or NetherRealm Studios, but that Boon is interested in possible crossovers. In addition NetherRealm studios is currently busy with Injustice 2, which means it's unlikely that this crossover, if given the green light, would release anytime soon.
The Mortal Kombat franchise did crossover with the DC Universe in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe in 2008.
Microsoft rebooted the classic fighting franchise in 2013 as a free-to-play launch title for Xbox One. Since then 3 seasons worth of content have been released, with General Raam from the Gears of War franchise being the latest addition to the fighting roster.
