League of Legends Champion Killed Off

A League of Legends character has been killed off.

Gangplank has beefed off by rival Miss Fortune as part of the ongoing Bilgewater event. The character has been removed from the roster as a result.

As you would imagine this has caused a negative backlash from the community, because those who’ve paid to unlock the character and purchased cosmetic items for them. However Riot Games has addressed fans with a statement:

“Champion death is unprecedented in League of Legends, and we do not take it lightly. We Encourage all Gangplank fans to remain calm for a few days until we can fully assess the situation. At this time, we are not address refund requests for him or his skins but please know that over the next several days we’ll do out best to make things right for everyone.”

This had certainly drawn a lot of attention, to allow players to loose something that they paid for, even for a couple of days, can cause serious problems. Does this mean that characters are subject to the same banishment?
