Little Devil Inside development team apologizes for radical stereotype enemy

Little Devil Inside is an indie game that gained momentum during the recent PlayStation 5 livestream. With the game set for a PS4, PS5, and PC release some viewers were not happy with the design of a specific monster within the game, causing the development team to apologize for the enemy.

The enemy in question is shown in the 45-second mark of the trailer where the protagonist runs from a tribe of creatures wearing white masks with bright red lips. The creatures themselves having dreadlocks and dark skin which some say looks like a stereotype of black people.
The development team responded by saying the development team was unaware of this when researching the character design. Creating characters reflect what they believe are guardians of a mystic region and didn't take reference from any real "African and/or Afro-American human tribes". The developers said they will remove the:
1. Remove the Dreadlocks.
2. Change the bold lips.
3. Change skin tone.
4. Tweak the dart blower so it looks less like a joint.
The fanbase isn't as happy with the decision. On Facebook where the decision was conveyed fans of the game are vexed that the developers would sacrifice their creative freedom.
Little Devil Inside will be releasing for PC, PS4, and PS5.
