Magicka Casts Itself Onto Steam Top

Who needs marketing or hypes, crazy promotional stunts and booth babes, when you have comedy, an ambitious vision and colorful bathrobes you can cast spells from. This is the success story of the freshly released Magicka, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Paradox Interactive.

Accidently destroying your friends is a blast in Magicka
Released less than a week ago on Steam, this small and affordable title has climbed its way to the top instantaneously by selling over 30,000 copies in less than 24 hours. Doing so, Arrowhead is currently still on top, outselling even major powerhouses such as EA’s Dead Space 2, despite major bugs hindering a lot of players.
Arrowhead is hard at work to circumvent this and has already brought out a patch 4 days in a row and promised more next week, as Steam won’t let them do it over the weekend. As for now you can still enjoy playing alone or locally best, but multiplayer will be up to par, as Paradox stated: “Singleplayer and LAN is what most people are currently playing but updating the multiplayer lobby and continuously improving the game is our top priority.”
If you’re still on the fence about this title, after so many sales, feel free to read our review. Let me state that this game would’ve been an easy 90/100 had it not been for the bugs. Food for thought.
