Mario & Luigi Developer AlphaDream has Filed for Bankruptcy

The Mario & Luigi RPG series has been regarded as some of the best games on Nintendo's handheld systems. However, the recent title, Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey sold very poorly. Despite being an incredible RPG many states that its low sales were due to the game releasing on the 3DS and not on the Nintendo Switch.

Now the developer has filed bankruptcy.

Reported by GoNintendo, the company is in debt for $4.3 million. This is very upsetting, as a fan of these titles they provided a spiritual successor to Mario Superstar Saga: Legend of the Seven Stars. A widely acclaimed title that never saw a sequel.
