Once more, Insomniac Games is making waves in the world of games. There are new reports that the well-known studio is working on three big AAA Marvel games. Fans are already excited about Marvel's Wolverine and Marvel's Spider-Man 3, but there's more and more proof that a third game is being made. It might be a stand-alone Venom game, and it might come out even sooner. We now have more information about Marvel putting out more AAA games.

However, there are more than just rumors to back up the fact that Marvel's Blade will come out in 2027. A financial report from Papers Enterprises says that Arkane Studios hopes to get final approval for the game by November 2027. This means that the game could come out in the last few months of that year.

It was also said in the report that Marvel's Blade started full production at the end of 2024, not long after the prototype phase was successfully approved. But the timeline for development may go back even further. The campaign director for the game, Dana Nightingale, says on her LinkedIn profile that Blade has been in pre-production since January 2022.

In a healthy five years, Arkane will have gone from early development to the expected launch, which is about the same amount of time as it takes to make a major AAA game. Some people thought that Blade would come out in 2026, but this new financial report gives that date a lot more weight.

Marvel's Blade won't be by himself either. From 2026 to 2028, Marvel is planning to release one to two major single-player games each year, which looks like a great lineup. Here is a possible (but not official) list of upcoming Marvel releases:

  • Captain America: Black Panther 1943 is set for release in 2026, and it's possible Wolverine or Venom could be included.
  • If neither Wolverine nor Venom doesn't drop in 2026, Blade will be added.
  • 2028: Spider-Man 3 is set to happen, and EA's Iron Man might also join the fun.

That means Marvel fans could get at least six big games in three years, which is faster than even the most productive times for Marvel Studios' movies and Disney+.

Arkane's take on Blade is the most interesting. The studio, which made Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop, is known for creating worlds that feel real, having complex game systems, and coming up with new ways to fight. Putting that background into a darker superhero game about killing vampires could give Marvel a tone in the gaming world that is truly unique: gritty, stylish, and mature.

As for making games, 2027 isn't that far away, especially since AAA games take a long time to make. That being said, now that production is fully underway and clear release dates are starting to emerge, Blade fans can finally look forward with confidence.

However, the wave of Marvel games doesn't end there. People are getting more and more excited about these titles:

  • Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a game set during WWII, will come out next year.
  • Wolverine from Insomniac promises a story with more violence and sadness.
  • Venom has been talked about as a separate project for a while now, but it hasn't been officially confirmed.
  • Spider-Man 3 will likely continue the huge success of Insomniac's previous Spider-Man games.
  • The open-world Marvel epic Iron Man, which is being made by EA Motive, is still a long way from being finished.

If everything goes as planned, Marvel will be the leader in single-player superhero games from 2026 to 2028, and Blade is in the middle of it all.
