Masaya Nakamura, a game and Japanese toy entrepreneur, and creator of Pac-Man, died on January 22nd at the age of 91.

Since its official release on May 22, 1980 the Pac-Man games have been played over 10 billion times according to Bandai Namco. The game has been updated, revised, and rereleased on multiple platforms across every generation since its debut.
According to Bandai Namco the idea for Pac-Man's iconic design was inspired by pizza. The name comes from the Japanese phrase "paku paku" to describe the sound of Pac-Man eating dots.
