Following the announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds at The Game Awards in December 2023, fans of the series have been eagerly anticipating its release. While there was anticipation for the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test, Capcom has finally revealed the dates for it. Capcom stated that this Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test will give players the chance to test out the most recent installment in the popular action role-playing game franchise. Along with the Open Beta Test update, Capcom also released a new Monster Hunter Wilds trailer, introducing the Oilwell Basin and the new monsters.
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test will take place from November 1, 2024, to November 4, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. This announcement came along with good news for the PlayStation 5 PS Plus subscribers. Individuals who are PS Plus subscribers are granted early access to the Open Beta Test, allowing them to test it out before others. Early access to the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers starting Monday, October 29, 2024, and ending Wednesday, October 31, 2024. To download and play, you'll need at least 18 GB of free space on your device.
How to Participate in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test
Those who meet the following conditions can participate in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test:
- Must be within the age range specified by the game's rating based on area of residence.
- Must have access to an environment that is capable of participating in the test.
- Must have an account on your desired platform.
- Must have access to a broadband internet connection.
- Must have access to a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or a PC that meets the following operating environment requirements.

Those who will be participating in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test will have the opportunity to try out three important features: Character Creation, the Story Trial, and the Doshaguma Hunt. In the Character Creation option, you will be able to design every aspect of your hunter, from body type to face characteristics, and the characters you design in the Open Beta Test will remain saved until you play the full version of the game, except for the progress achieved with the hunter. You can have an unlimited amount of time to use the Character Creation tool to construct your ideal hunter and Palico during the Open Beta Test period.
Just like how Capcom made Dragon's Dogma II newcomer-friendly, if you're new to the Monster Hunter series, you'll start from the game's beginning, the tutorial, and everything up until they defeat the Chatacabra in the Story Trial. After starting the Doshaguma Hunt, your missions will center around locating and defeating the Doshaguma. You have the option to finish both tasks in online multiplayer or alone with the help of three NPC hunters. And, after you complete the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test, you will have the chance to win a special Pendant along with an item pack to adorn your Seikret and weapons.
Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
