One of the most self-indulgent genres there are is anime games. From those, one of the longest running, most nonsensical games is the Neptunia series. There's good news for whoever is ready for more kawaii madness, because publisher Idea Factory announced that Neptunia Virtual Stars will come to us digitally and physically on PlayStation 4 (PS4) in 2021.

The setup for this one is just as ludicrous as it's ever been. There are planets that create a commodity called "content." One of those planets is called EMO. However, an antagonist group, Anti, wants to destroy that content. In come the VTubers, Mi and Yu! These two, blessed with their ability to create good content, team up with other past characters from the Neptunia series to save the universe.
Basically, the game feels like a light role-playing game (RPG) with real-time combat, with a bunch of cute, colorful anime girls running around shouting things. That's probably all you need to know. The introduction of virtual YouTubers, however, allows the game to cross promote with "real" VTubers. These characters can join the battle like an assist character. Additionally, Neptunia Virtual Stars is said to manipulate the background music, to change the flow of combat.
There are currently no plans for Neptunia Virtual Stars on other platforms, but a lot of developer Idea Factory's games eventually make their way to a PC platform. This is sounding like another banger of a ride. Sometimes fun can just be fun.
Let us know if you're excited for the PS4 release of Neptunia Virtual Stars in the comments.
