Looks like Game Theory was correct, Nintendo is heading into the VR market with their Nintendo Switch console and allowing gamers to build it using a Nintendo Labo kit.

The headset is will kit will come in either Labo VR Kit or the Starter Set + Blaster. These cost $79.99 and $39.99. If you purchase the cheaper starter kit, you can buy the other VR Toy-Con via expansions. Expansion Set 1 includes the elephant mask and camera, while Expansion Set 2 includes the bird mask and the wind pedal. Each expansion costs $19.99 and will only be sold on Nintendo’s online store.

The Starter Set + Blaster kit provides an action-packed introduction to the experience. You can then add to the fun with the Expansion Sets. Or, if you want an even broader experience right away, you can purchase the full Nintendo Labo VR Kit, which features six VR Toy-Con projects in one package.
These options, even with the cost of a Nintendo Switch system, is pretty affordable. Compared to the PSVR this may become the most affordable option for those looking to invest in VR. While we haven't seen any gameplay gamers have been interested in VR for much longer than 3D gaming, which means it's here to stay.
