PlayStation 4 Within Reach of 100 Sales Total, Sold Over 5 Million During Holiday 2018

The PlayStation 4 has been a smash hit since its debut and continues to grow in popularity with exclusives titles. Sony has confirmed that the PS4 sold over 5.6 million units during the previous holiday season and 50.7 million PS4 games, pushing PS4 sales to 876 million units since its debut on November 15th, 2013.

This year we saw the release of God of War which had 3 million copies sold during its opening week and Marvel's Spider-Man that became the fastest selling PS4 exclusive of all time, beating out Kratos' latest adventure. Sony has other exclusive IPs releasing such as The Last of Us: Part II, Death Stranding, and Ghost of Tsushima which will likely boost sales even further.

In comparison, the PS2, which is regarded as one of the most successful consoles of all time in sales and reception, sold 158 million units in its lifetime.
