Prima Games Shutting Down by Spring 2019
Major strategy guide publisher Prima Games will shut down this Spring 2019

Prima Games is notorious for being the publisher for the most detailed strategy guides in video games. However, according to multiple reports from Variety the company will close by Spring 2019.

Prima Games started in 1990 and ran for 28 years, creating guides of thousands and merged with BrandGames, their major competitor, in 2013 after Penguin Group merged with Random House to create Penguin Random House.
“I can confirm that the decision has been made to no longer commission new Prima Games strategy guides and the U.S.-based imprint will be discontinued in Spring 2019,” a spokesperson said via email. “We are in conversations with the Prima Games team and cannot comment on this further at this point.” [Variety]
When Gamefaqs, YouTube, and other sites started uploading their own guides purchase one became unnecessary. Over time Prima would still construct guides with beautiful art and solid covers but as the times progressed more competitors rose.
