Publisher Ripstone has announced the release dates for its sports simulation title, Pure Pool. It will arrive on Playstation 4 on July 29, 2014 in Europe and July 30 in the US. Additionally, the PC launch via Steam will drop a day later, on July 31.
Pure Pool is a returning title for Playstation 4. Prior to that, there was Hustle Kings on Playstation 3. Both were developed by VooFoo Studios. They also made Pure Chess, so they sort of have a theme going there.
Aside from several modes in singleplayer, Pure Pool also has a multiplayer component that makes use of DNA profiles that track the play style of opponents. This allows an artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate their features, even if those people aren’t online to play. Stats include the amount of games won, shots legally completed and scratches that potted the white ball. Moreover, different DNA profiles are categorized in separate mastery tiers, to indicate on the fly how tough an opponent can be.
Upon launch, developer VooFoo will have their development team’s DNA profiles loaded in Pure Pool for free, so you can size up against the creators of the game.
Along with Playstation 4, Pure Pool was also announced for Xbox One. It would be the first pool game to arrive on that console. A release date for Xbox One wasn’t announced just yet.
