Razer Developing $400 VR Headset

Razer has announced its second open-source headset to compete with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, called the Hacker Development Kit 2.0.

Due this July for $399.99, $100 more than the early model, and is designed for OSVR. The headset will play SteamVR games, feature 2160x1200 resolution, dual OLED displays and 90hz refresh rate.

It'll also feature custom lenses for player's who wear perscription glasses or have trouble seeing each pixel.

“The HDK 2 allows us to meet the needs of VR fans and gamers and provide developers with affordable open-source hardware to innovate with,” said head of Razer OSVR Christopher Mitchel.

“With the HDK 2 being able to deliver a visual experience on par with industry leaders, we will now be able to represent hardware agnostic VR media and games in all their glory for future headsets to adopt through the open source ecosystem.”
