Special Edition missions in Red Dead Redemption 2 are not part of the main story

Recently, Rockstar revealed that certain missions would be locked behind a special edition. Called a gang hideout and a bank heist mission, these would require the Red Dead Redemption 2 Special Edition and will no be available by other means. Following the backlash from the community, Rockstar took to the internet to address the concerns.
In a post
The Bank Robbery and Gang Hideout included in the RDR2 Special Edition are side activities created specifically for that edition and are not part of the main story.

While it's important to clarify that these missions are not story related many are still vexed that these missions are only available to special edition copies of the game. Side missions make up the bulk of many Rockstar titles and usually are the best parts of the entire game so it's understandable why fans who cannot afford the special edition copy or simply don't want to spend the extra money are annoyed of this decision.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch on October 26 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
