SaGa Frontier Remastered Coming In 2021

Square Enix has announced that SaGa Frontier is receiving a remastered version coming to PlayStation 4, Switch, Steam, iOS, and Android mobile devices. The game will not only have upgraded high definition graphics and  other enhancements, but will feature new changes to the story. The biggest addition is the inclusion of the cut 8th planned protagonist, Fuse. While the IRPO agent previously appeared as a major character in Red and Emilia’s story (and as a supporting character in the Arcane magic quest) he was also intended to have his own unique plotline. Fuse’s story will likely flesh out the other IRPO party members like Doll, Silence, Cotton, Rabbit, and Emilia’s missing fiancé Ren.

 

The original 1998 version of SaGa Frontier was among the first batch of games published by the former Square Electronic Arts joint venture. In an attempt to mimic the recent success of Final Fantasy 7, Electronic Arts agreed to distribute most of Squaresoft’s library. Released in the west alongside titles like Final Fantasy Tactics and Bushido Blade, SaGa Frontier failed to appeal to the masses by found a smaller cult following. Hopefully, the remaster will find new success.
