Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Reportedly Adopts Battlefield Destruction Tech
Everything we know about Battlefront 3, from bigger maps to the Battlefield 6 tech behind it.

Star Wars fans have big news. EA has confirmed that DICE and Respawn Entertainment are joining forces on a brand-new game, and several industry reports say it's Battlefront 3. EA hasn't named the game, so the title is reported, not confirmed.
Still, several publications are reporting it, which makes this more substantial than a typical rumor. One source says Lucasfilm is making Battlefront 3, another links the partnership to a Battlefront game, and a third says both studios are working on a new entry.

EA also picked DICE and Respawn on purpose, rather than having one studio finish an existing project, suggesting it wants to combine their experience, technology, and resources. It remains unclear which team is leading and how they'll split the work.
EA's October 21st announcement laid out a new development strategy.
Fewer major projects, with more focus on franchises that have long-term potential. EA called Battlefield 6 a major success and said it learned a lot from its development, launch, and live service. It wants to use those lessons, balance its resources, and leverage its technology for a stronger shooter portfolio, and it named the DICE and Respawn collaboration right after.
That doesn't confirm Battlefront 3 uses the Battlefield 6 engine, destruction, or any specific features. Still, it shows EA wants to build on what it has instead of treating each shooter as a separate investment. The gameplay talk is still rumor. Lucasfilm reportedly wants the biggest and most ambitious Battlefront yet, possibly with twice the scope of its predecessor.
That means much bigger maps, more vehicles, more weapons,s and expanded systems, with more options across the different factions. Map sizes and player counts haven't leaked, but reports suggest something considerably larger. If it's accurate, Battlefront 3 would be a real shift for the series.
Battlefront 2 had some impressive maps, but its main modes centered on concentrated combat areas and specific objectives. Larger environments would change how vehicles work, how you move around, and how objectives are spread out.
They'd also create performance and networking challenges, along with limits on how many players and vehicles the game can support.
The Battlefield developer has years of experience with big multiplayer maps and vehicle systems, and Battlefield 6 improved how destruction affects environments and damaged structures. That has led to rumors that Battlefront 3 will get environmental destruction inspired by that game.
We don't know if that means destructible walls, damaged buildings, changing cover, or something broader, and EA hasn't confirmed any of it. It's still interesting, since EA has talked publicly about leveraging that tech. Star Wars blasters, heavy walkers, and starfighters would require adapting a system built around modern military combat.

Developers would have to decide how much each weapon and vehicle can change the environment. Any changes also have to stay consistent for everyone in a match. Combined with bigger maps and more vehicles, Battlefront 3 would be far more complicated than a new set of maps for Battlefront 2.
More vehicles are also rumored, which fits bigger battlefields. Battlefront 2 covered several eras, yet plenty of the franchise's equipment and military units haven't appeared in the modern games. Each vehicle needs suitable environments, controls, damage models,s and balancing, and getting ground vehicles, troop transports, starfighters, and walkers to work together is a big design challenge.
DICE's large-scale experience suits the rumored expansion, and Respawn adds shooting expertise.
The Battlefield developer has experience with this, which is why the rumored Battlefront 3 expansion suits the partnership. More weapons and gameplay features are rumored too, but there's no list of new gear and no word on how weapon progression will work.
The Apex Legends studio could matter a lot here. It built Titanfall and Apex Legends, both known for responsive controls, solid shooting, and distinct weapons. Nothing about Battlefront 3 is official beyond the collaboration itself, but if the reports hold up, Battlefront 3 could be the most ambitious entry the series has seen.
