The Witcher 3 Free on GOG For Current Owners
Purchasers of The Witcher 3 on consoles and PC can download on GOG Galaxy for free
News by Fragnarok on Jun 17, 2020
The Witcher 3 has been a smash hit since its original release in 2015. The critically acclaimed roleplaying game has sold nearly 30 million copies, and eventually included two expansion packs. Many people may have purchased the game on a variety of platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Game Store. Now, publisher CD Projekt has announced that any current owner can get a free version of the game on their GOG Galaxy platform.
The process involves linking a user’s other console or store ID into their GOG profile. If The Witcher 3 is owned on one of those other platforms, then the game will become a free purchase in GOG’s downloader. At present, this promotion does not apply to the Switch version of the game. Additionally, GOG checks for the specific edition of The Witcher 3 owned. Those with the base game will be ineligible for free downloadable content, like the Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone expansions. Those with the Game of the Year edition will receive everything on GOG Galaxy.
This deal lasts until June 23.
