Splinter Cell has been one of the most requested franchises to make a return and now it's happening. With Ubisoft confirming a remake of the first game.

As reported by IGN:

"It’s safe to say a lot of us on the team are stealth purists, and we're behind that level of seriousness when it comes to those kinds of mechanics, and those sorts of things that we want to see in this game," says Chris Auty, Splinter Cell's new creative director. "And we're very, very aware of what makes classic Splinter Cell what it is."

Ubisoft stated they plan to maintain the game's original concepts and mechanics. With such a dedicated fanbase that has been looking forward to the VR game in development since last year and 2 more games in the franchise in development. Personally, I want the cooperative campaign to make a return as well.

It's been years since a Splinter Cell game and Sam Fisher has been limited to cameos in titles such as Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

Ubisoft has been in a troubled state since the allegations of a toxic work environment surfaced. With those coming forward reporting sexual assault and some describing the company as a frat house. The company has taken measures to address these accounts but we'll have to wait and see if correct measures are made to ensure a safe working environment.
