The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct is Almost Here—Everything Nintendo Revealed
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, While Ocarina of Time and Nintendo’s Future Raise More Questions

Although Nintendo has several smaller stories to cover, one headline is clearly getting the most attention: The Legend of Zelda. As the popular franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary, Nintendo is preparing to highlight Zelda with a special anniversary Direct.
The presentation should last about 30 minutes, giving Nintendo enough time to talk through the series and, perhaps, reveal something fans have been waiting for. As expected, speculation is already spreading rapidly, particularly about one specific Zelda game.

The game in question is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The idea of a modern version has been a major topic of discussion among Zelda fans. Since the original Nintendo 64 game is still regarded as one of the most significant titles in the series, recreating it for current hardware would be a major event.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake could offer a significant visual upgrade without losing the adventure fans know and love; better controls, smoother camera movement, faster menus, and other quality-of-life improvements could also make the experience much more enjoyable today.
Certainly, one point remains unsettled: Nintendo hasn't confirmed everything fans are hoping for. Since much of the talk surrounding the September Direct is based on rumors and speculation, it's important to keep our expectations reasonable until Nintendo takes an official stance.
Even so, the 40th anniversary gives the company a solid reason to make a major move. No other Nintendo series has transformed as dramatically as Zelda. It began as a fairly simple top-down adventure and has since evolved into huge open-world games, including Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
The series' evolution could be a highlight of the anniversary festivities.
That is not the only thing worth watching. Nintendo's upcoming live-action film The Legend of Zelda might also attract attention. Since the movie has been in development for a while, fans will naturally want to know more about Nintendo's plans.

A minor update could quickly turn into one of the biggest topics of discussion at the presentation. You may also get anniversary goods, special hardware, or other surprises. Nintendo has, on no occasion, been reluctant to mark important anniversaries for its most popular franchises, and the 40th anniversary of Zelda is as good a reason as one could hope for.
For Nintendo, timing also matters. The Switch 2 library is still being developed, and another major Zelda title would give the system a huge boost; if the reportedly planned Ocarina of Time remake does come out, it could easily become one of the year's most discussed Nintendo releases.
For now, fans will have to wait and see what Nintendo really has to offer. Although the smaller news items may have begun the discussion, Zelda is undoubtedly the highlight. Since forty years is a major milestone, Nintendo has the opportunity to honor the series' history while also giving fans a preview of where it is headed next.
If The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is actually making a comeback, then this might be the Zelda Direct that fans have been looking forward to.
