The box art of Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy bears a never-before-seen icon in the upper-right corner. “Nintendo Network,” reads the orange symbol.

The reverse side indicates that Theatrhythm will feature paid DLC. Given that, it's possible Nintendo Network is an upcoming DLC service. Still, speculation abounded when pictures hit the Web, and there’s plenty of unconfirmed information ahead.

An anonymous source told Nintendo Enthusiast that Nintendo will launch a website that will allow users to access their Nintendo Network accounts from any web browser. The source also said that the network will be compatible with both the 3DS and Wii U.

The logo in question.

This could just be a rebranding of the current Nintendo Wi-fi Connection, but according to the source Nintendo Network will be comparable to Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. The source indicated, however, that Nintendo Network won’t necessarily include all the features of PSN or LIVE. Rather, the source said, the service is the first time Nintendo has directly competed with Sony or Microsoft’s online platforms.

It sounds vague (and a little sketchy), so we won't hold our breath. While no details have been confirmed, Nintendo may make a formal announcement at its conference Jan. 26. Expect concrete info by then.
