On August 30th, Steam Greenlight launched enlisting the help of community members to pick the next games to be released on Steam. Game developers and users post information about their work and ask for support from the Steam community so that their game may get chosen to be offered on Steam.

Within days of its launch, Steam Greenlight  was full of bogus projects. This annoyance led Steam to initiate a $100 fee for users wishing to post a project. The Steam community showed mixed emotions in reaction to the fee, but generally developers were happy to throw down the money as proceeds go to Child's Play.

So far 10 titles have been Greenlit by the Steam community.

With hundreds of submissions, and more coming every day, Steam has announced the first titles to get the community's Greenlight. The following games have moved to a new Greenlit section until they are made available on Steam:

  • Black Mesa
  • Cry of Fear
  • Dream
  • Heroes & Generals
  • Kenshi
  • McPixel
  • No More Room in Hell
  • Project Zomboid
  • Routine
  • Towns

Steams says, "This is just the beginning," so continue showing support for those games you wish to see Greenlit and vote!
