Call of Duty: Space Warfare?

By fishdalf, Posted 10 Nov 2010

On the day that Call of Duty: Black Ops is released to the world, rumours are rife on the next game in the series being set in space.

Apparently the guys over at Gamasutra have been given a little insider information, stating Sledgehammer Games, who recently merged with Activision, are spearheading the project, set for a 2011 release, and intend for it to be set in the far-distant future. Ironically, sledgehammer is quite a fitting name for the timing of such an announcement.

Sledgehammer Games was founded on November 17, 2009 by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, who left Electronic Arts subsidiary Visceral Games, the studio responsible for bringing us Dead Space, so the pair are no strangers to creating a game set in a futuristic realm.

Despite the fact that these are still just rumours, many have already begun setting up internet campaigns, demanding the plans to be scrapped. If indeed thing’s do come to fruition, it will certainly be interesting to see how thing’s escalate and whether Activision are willing to take a risk of such magnitude with their landmark series.

  • Anything from Call of Duty will do the trick. This series is a cash cow now.

  • As long as I can still shoot people and have fun doing it... (that sounds wrong)..

If it's still good then it's still good... CoD still has many surprises for us gamers...
