Released on the PC and then mobile devices Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! gives players the chance to run and expand their own blacksmith business. Creating weapons, expanding their shop, and doing it all over again. It doesn't revolutionary games with similar concepts but Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! does it right.

Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!,NoobFeed,

Players take control of a business potato who just inherited 1 percent of a weapon shop from the guild. Despite a questionable relationship with your business partner you're giving free roam to run the business how you like. Hence begins your journey to create weapons, buy resources, expand, and do it all over again.

You start off with 3 potato smiths who are willing to forge weapons, barter, and sell the products at the press of a command. The daily grind is the first step in expanding your business as you learn the tools of the trade. It's a great tutorial to start things off but eventually, things become hectic and manage to remain in business.

With over 200 weapons to forge and 70 different potato heroes, you have a lot of items to create and customers to please. You'll spend a majority of your time building weapons to increase your frame and cash known as $arth. Each weapon has specific stats that can be altered based on which Smith is working on it and can be named for that personal touch.

Business is the key element here. Your primary goal is to expand and that means balancing your finances. Everything, even labor, has to be paid for and the business solely survives on monetary transactions, making buying resources paramount to maintaining synergy. However, buy too much and you'll end up short, making it impossible to pay your staff. The game does offer a safety net for 3 instances this happens which is great.

The game's dialogue offers some brief moments of humor. Your customers boast about crimes they're going to commit and your Smith's joke around about what's happening. The delightful spark of joking dialogue does bring a lot of charm and complements the goofy animation of watching potatoes work and build weapons.

Sending your staff to buy resources and sell items helps build your business. There is a range of heroes that are willing to buy for a specific amount of coin. However, certain characters prefer specific weapons and if you provide something they don't prefer it can hurt your reputation. Sometimes you can balance the risk and reward by provided something the character doesn't want but for a higher price, this will hurt your rating but you'll make it with nearly double that if you sold the weapon to the more suited character.

Often objectives and weapon conditions will change how fast you can craft items. There are timed tasks to craft specific weapons with unique stats and There objectives that have 2 options. If you pick wrong it'll impact business. Since the right choice is random you have a 50/50 chance of hindering progression through no fault of your own.

While playing on the Nintendo Switch I noticed some delayed commands, especially when playing docked. In addition, the game would freeze at random times. I would still be able to issue commands and sell products but the animations on screen would completely stop.

The interface also takes time to get accustomed to. Much of the screen is cluttered with images and button inputs, which wouldn't be a problem on a touchscreen, but the Joy-Cons have you going from menu to menu. You can pause and fast forward time, making handheld play sessions much easier to contend with.

Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! provides what players would expect from similar games. Forging weapons, selling products, and building your business can become engrossing once you get into the rhythm. However, it's a much more entertaining experience in short burst while on the run. Playing docked with Joy-Cons will offer more moments of frustration than joy. Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! has plenty of humor and addicting gameplay, just don't in expecting anything different.
