Resident Evil 4 Remake was released on March 24th, and it's been a fantastic remake. The original Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005. That was nearly 20 years ago, and there had been so much hype for this remake. But before you join Leon Kennedy on his blood-curling adventure to save the President's daughter again, assuming you play the original, here're everything you need to know what you can expect.
1. Keep Weapons Loaded
You'll probably walk into a boss fight or an area packed with foes and find out that your weapons need to be loaded. It happens very frequently and is the cause of death countless times. Before and after every fight, double-check your weapons or reload them if necessary. I've learned this the hard way, and it's not a mistake you want to make too often.
2. Eggs and Fish
Believe it or not, eggs will save your life more times than you can count. Eggs can be collected from chickens. Obviously, consuming them will grant you a small portion of health unless you have the Chicken Charm, which gives you 100 health recovery from eating eggs. Likewise, fish can also be consumed to heal a small portion of health. Of course, if you have the Black Bass Charm, you can receive 100 health from eating those two, saving you from using your precious first aid sprays and herbs.
3. Flash Grenades
Flash grenades are a complete game changer when you use them against exposed plaga from the Ganado and Colmillos. The flash grenade can temporarily stun enemies to buy you some time to escape, and the bright light produced from the grenade will instantly kill exposed parasites. Flash grenades will also kill crows. So next time you encounter large amounts of them, toss a flash grenade at them and enjoy your free loot.
I highly recommend purchasing the flash grenade crafting recipe from the trader once it becomes available, as they become a crucial item to have mid-game.
4. Bear Traps & Tripwires
You can expect to step into several bear traps throughout your mission. They are incredibly annoying, but they don't always have to be. Of course, you can simply walk around bear traps, but if you find yourself needing to disarm one, give it a good poke with your knife. Alternatively, you could shoot it, but I don't recommend wasting the ammo. You can also take advantage of bear traps and tripwires by luring your enemies into them.
You could also throw eggs into them, but eggs are pretty useful.
5. Merchant's Warnings
The merchant is no doubt a really mysterious guy. Paying attention to him is important because he'll warn you when you're at a point of no return. So you might want to take care of any leftover errands before leaving that area. This is a good indication that you should check your map and finish up all your side quests and treasure hunting in the area because you won't be able to return to the location.
6. Check The Map
Checking the map is something you should be doing quite frequently. This may sound super basic, but the map will display any ammunition, treasures, herbs or other items that you may have walked past without realizing. If you need help figuring out where to go next, your map will always point you in the right direction.
7. Save The Gems
There are many things you shouldn't do in Resident Evil; one of those things is selling gems to the merchant. You will lose so much money doing this. Save your gems until you can place them inside the treasure that you find to maximize your profit. Also, pay attention to the little guide to know what types of gems will get you the most money.
8. Big Boom Boom Gun
The rocket launcher is easily the deadliest weapon in Resident Evil 4. Obviously, it's expensive, sitting right at 80000 pesetas. Fortunately, there is a Leon with Rocket Launcher Charm that gives a 20% discount lowering the price to 64000 pesetas. It is a single-use weapon, so be sure to use it wisely. The rocky launcher is strong enough to put a stop to most boss fights. Just pull it out and blast them in the face. If you've played the original game, I'm sure you remember that this Easter Egg shooting the lake from the dock with your handgun will get you a free rocket launcher without having to purchase one.
9. Combine Herbs
Whatever you do, please do not use your herbs individually. If you want to want to get the most out of them, make sure you combine your herbs. Green herbs will heal a small portion of health, red herbs will multiply the effects of other herbs, and yellow herbs permanently increase your maximum health. Here are three of the best combinations you can make with your herbs a green, yellow, and red combo will increase your maximum health and restore 100 of your health. Green and red will also restore 100 of your health; green and yellow will restore a small portion of your health but still give you that maximum health increase.
10. Look and Listen
Treasure wouldn't be a treasure if it wasn't hard to find. If you're paying attention, it's easy to find most of the treasure throughout the game while defending yourself from horrendous parasites. But you need to keep your eyes peeled for treasure and collectibles if you want to find them all. You may have to look up, down, over things, and even under things just to find what you're looking for. If you can't see it, you can hear it. The silver containers and wind-up dolls make noise if there's one nearby. So make sure you clean your ears before you play the game.
