ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove! brings the cult classic to modern audiences. But those hoping into the adventure might need some help gathering those ship parts. Here are five tips for ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove!.
5. Be Cautious What You Shake
ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove! offers a wide array of items but some are hidden in the bushes, trees, and homes littered throughout the environment. While shaking them does yield beneficial items some can spawn hostile enemies and damaging items. During the final parts of any run, these dangerous items become much more frequent. Instead, focus on gathering items at the beginning of the adventure and avoid shaking interactive pieces of the environment in level 10 and above.
4. Use the Enemy's Momentum
Enemies are plentiful in ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove! but most use a momentum system that players can use to their advantage. Instead of simply fleeing in a straight line, bob and weave to cause the enemy to dash around you. This will be key during the higher levels.
3. Remember to Level Up
It can be easy to forget that ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove! has a leveling system but it does. The human wearing a carrot suit not only reveals what presents do but serves can level your avatar and boost their stats. Keep an eye on your experience gauge as leveling means more luck, faster walking, and even an extra life from time to time.
2. Use the Water
During your adventure, you'll encounter water and ice that you can cross but not enemies. Use these environmental hazards to avoid enemy damage and for quick escapes. But be warned, the less your health is the less time you can spend in the water.
1. Jump off the World
Seems like a last resort but if you really need health, presents, or avoid fatal damage leaping off the world is a necessary evil. While you do drop 1 level, you can always access the elevator once again. The landscape remains the same and you can use this to obtain items and health when backed into a corner.
