Ask The Dalf #5
All we know is that he’s called The Dalf…

Some say that the vibration function on controllers doesn’t work in his hands, and that he once removed ‘Del’ from his keyboard because he prefers Compaq. All we know is that he’s called The Dalf…
Why are you called ‘The Dalf’?
Because I just am.
Gaming isn’t giving me the buzz it once used to?
Then maybe you’re not playing the right games. Go try a new series you’ve never played before, or a completely new genre and see where you go from there. Aside from that there are other hobbies out there that can be equally as fun. Why not go to a theme park and see if that gives you the buzz you require, or learn an instrument, which can be richly rewarding in itself. I’m not saying forget about games completely, but maybe a break from them, or at least cutting down on them will bring back the enthusiasm you once had.
When does the new Medal of Honor come out?
Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be released 23rd October.
How am I supposed to afford all these expensive video games with just my allowance?
You’ve answered your own question right there – you’re not. Gaming is an expensive thing and if your allowance currently isn’t covering it then you need to get out there and find a job. I assume you’re still in some form of education so it would probably be a part-time job, but there are some out there that can bag you a tidy wage. A tough economic climate is no excuse. If there are no jobs available then start selling your own stuff, be it from eBay or from your garage. Hell, go offer to valet cars on your street if that’s what it takes, because after all, there are a lot of people out there who just don’t have the time or can’t be bothered to do it themselves.
I live with my girlfriend and she is never happy when I play my Xbox, why won’t she compromise?
You are not alone there my friend, and unfortunately there isn’t one set answer to your problem. The way I see it, it’s all about compromise. I’m sure she has passions and hobbies that she makes time for, and coming up with a schedule whereby she does her thing and you do yours is probably the best for all parties. It’s also about not pushing your luck, such as playing for eight hours straight when you both have a day off together, or a large chunk of Valentine’s Day. Gaming versus women will be an argument that will stand the test of time and failing to come up with a rational solution may result in you having to look elsewhere for a partner that either enjoys gaming herself, or is a little more tolerable of it.
The Madden series is boring me.
Then don’t play it.
Do you think it’s unfair that ‘unlimited’ data for phones isn’t actually unlimited?
Well some companies do still honor that unlimited claim, but most now have a cap of around 2-4GB of data per month. I don’t personally have a problem with that being the ceiling, because it takes a lot of browsing and streaming for that limit to be reached. What I do have a problem with is when those figures are kept under wraps, especially in the case of bigger networks and this ‘false advertising’ - so to speak - has to be addressed. It’s also pretty insane that you can pay for more data allowance when you’re not on an unlimited tariff, but when you are, increasing your usage isn’t usually possible.
I need Assassin’s Creed 3 news now!
The latest news is that the game will be set during the American Revolution and focus on the cities of Boston and New York – a stark contrast from what we saw in the previous trilogy. The ‘Big Apple’ in particular will make a perfect setting for the usual run, jump, climb and swing game mechanics, with many narrow streets and tall building’s to scale, as well as the ability to peruse the famous New York docks. Apart from that and a couple of other trivial tidbits that hint at one thing or another, there isn’t any further ‘revelations’ to speak of, but the site will be sure to keep you posted when that information becomes available.
Is Mario Party 9 any good?
God no.
I’m maximum level on Modern Warfare 3, why should I bother to prestige?
You have to weigh up what’s important to you and then make your decision off of that. Are you the kind of gamer who wants to go for all of the gold guns and complete of all of the challenges in their entirety, or are you more driven on moving through the ranks and moving forward in that regard? Maybe neither of those things floats your boat and you just enjoy putting bullets into people’s heads, and that’s fine too. Personally, I like to prestige as it gives me something to aim for and a focus when playing online. I know it’s just a number and a small emblem at the end of the day, but there’s also a respect from the community when you’re of a higher rank and the enjoyment that comes from that can be just as fulfilling as the gameplay itself.
