Looking for a tense horror game that will leave you in shivers, try these

2017 is coming to a close but many of us have yet to play some of the great games of this year. The horror genre was greatly underappreciated within the triple-a market and the indie scene came to the rescue with games such as Outlast and Five Nights at Freddy's. In 2017 we saw some incredible horror games release from both indie and triple-a developers. Here are the best horror games of 2017.
Outlast 2 (Red Barrels Studio)
While not as good as the first game Outlast 2 does provide tense moments of isolation as you explore the Arizona desert. Deadly cultist and a strange mystery surrounding your missing wife has protagonist Blake Langermann has his work cut out for him. Inside the small town of Temple Gate hides a dangerous mystery involving religious sacrifices and scientific experiments gone haywire.
The Evil Within 2 (Tango Gameworks / Bethesda)
Following the success of the first The Evil Within Tango Gameworks took the criticism from the gaming community and created an overall superior experience. Set in the semi-open-world of Unity players once again take control of Sebastian Castellanos as heads back into the nightmare-filled world of STEM. Inside are monsters, psychopaths, and his daughter who Sebastion will go to any means to save. Thanks to a refined sneaking system, the removal of the infamous black bars, and a robust collection of enemies and characters The Evil Within 2 soars in every category as not only a phenomenal survival-horror game but one of the best games this year.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (Ninja Theory)
Hellblade is not only a terrifying game, it's a learning experience. Senua is a Pict warrior who must make her way to Helheim by defeating supernatural entities and facing their challenges to rescue the soul of her dead lover from the goddess Hela. In addition, the game acts as a metaphor for the Senua's struggle with psychosis, who suffers from the condition but believes it to be a curse. Manifesting as "The Darkness", voices in her head known as "Furies", and memories from her past. Ninja Theory worked closely with neuroscientists, mental health specialists, non-profit organizations, and people suffering from the condition creating a haunting action-adventure game.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (Capcom)
While the Revelations franchise served as a great distraction from the core Resident Evil franchise, which strayed away from its survival-horror roots, Resident Evil 7 gave fans what they wanted. Taking inspiration from Outlast Resident Evil 7 takes chances by providing players with a new protagonist, setting, and first-person perspective for an outstanding experience. The Baker Family are excellent throughout this tense journey with each of the members serving as a different gameplay challenge to overcome. Best of all is that the Gold Edition is now available that gives players access to all the recently released DLC.
Little Nightmares (Tarsier Studio / Bandai Namco)
Little Nightmares is a short but gripping journey that leaves a lasting impact. You play as Six as she attempts to escape a resort called The Maw which houses many horrible secrets. Evading capture from dangerous creatures Six must attempt to survive and reach the surface world. I don't want to spoil anything but from the start of this adventure to the end you'll experience many shocking moments.
