Black Desert Beginner’s Guide | Gameplay Tips and Tricks

You can use keys on your keyboard to open menus quickly. Press I to see your items and K to check your skills. Press M to look at the map and O to see your tasks. 

If you want to see your hero's stats, press P. To see your friends, press N. You can also press L to open the window for crafting items in Black Desert.

Growing Your Stats

Your hero has three main body stats. Breath is your energy for running. You make it better by running around the world. Strength helps you carry more weight. 

You level this up by carrying heavy packs from a tradesman. Health is your total life points. You raise this by eating food. It is smart to always have a meal plan in Black Desert.

Points and Energy

Contribution Points are like a loan from the game. You spend them to get houses, hire workers, or use farm fences. You get these by finishing quests. These points are shared by all your characters. Energy is used to talk to people or gather materials. 

You get more energy by finding new places and talking to people with a ? icon on the map. Each of your characters has its own energy bar, so having many characters is very helpful in Black Desert.

Learning Life Skills

Life skills are ways to craft and gather. Gathering is when you pick bushes or cut trees. Fishing lets you catch fish in the water. You can do this yourself with a mini-game or let your hero do it while you are away. Hunting is for chasing wild animals with a gun. 

Cooking lets you make food in your house using a tool. Processing is when you change one item into another using the L key. Training goes up when you ride your horse.

Making Money with Cooking

You can make money by selling boxes to the Imperial craftsman. If you are a beginner, you can pack Beer or Grilled Bird Meat. Once you get better, you can make Pickled Vegetables. At very high levels, you can make a lot of money with Guru meals.

To cook, you must buy a house and put a Cooking Utensil inside. You can buy this tool from a cook in town in Black Desert.

To make Beer, mix 5 grains like Wheat or Potato with 6 Mineral Water, 1 cup of sugar, and 2 leavening agents. To make Grilled Bird Meat, use 2 Chicken, 6 Frying Oil, 1 Salt, and 2 Cooking Wine.

Top Tips for New Players

Follow the main story quests to learn the game. Talk to every person who has a question mark above their head to get more energy. Join a guild to get help and buffs in Black Desert.

Do not rush to finish everything fast. This game is like a long race, not a short run. Listen to the Black Spirit because he will guide you to where you need to go. If you have items you do not need, sell them to get silver.
