BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle New York Comic Con 2017 Preview
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is insane and worth trying

I knew one thing when starting to play BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, that Ruby Rose was in the game. Everyone else in the game was a mystery and it didn't help that my fighting game skills didn't go beyond a few memorized combos from Marvel vs. Capcom 3. However, after a couple of matches, everything started to click and I was not just entertained by the fantastic animations and colorful characters but how far I can in just a few matches.
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Arc System works that features characters from Blazblue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY. Players can choose from 2 characters per match, similar to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
The demo gave players the chance to play as Ragna the Bloodedge, Jin Kisaragi, Yu Narukami, Yosuke Hanamura, Hyde Kido, Linnie, and Ruby Rose with each having 1 alternate costume. The highlight was Ruby Rose's blue outfit, which was a hit with the fans who've become accustomed to her red coloration. Rooster Teeth did confirm that none of the Ruby color palettes were solidified for the final release and that they are still working on other designs as well as taking input from the community.
Gameplay wise the game plays similar to titles like Street Fighter vs. Capcom and Guilty Gear. Characters are 2D sprites and perform various combos based on the player's input with flashy special moves. At first, the controls were difficult to grasp, mapping circle to jump was the biggest barrier to overcome, but after some lessons from more skilled fighting fans, I was quickly able to hold my own.
As a novice fighting game fan, I was surprised how much fun I had with BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. At first, it was vexing but eventually after some training, the controls become much easier to grasp showing that with training even the worst player can become servable.
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is set to release in 2018.
