Control Noob Guide - Tips and Tricks

How to survive the Oldest House

by Grayshadow on  Aug 26, 2019

Control is teeming with Hiss to kill and objectives to complete. But Jesse, while powerful, is a glass cannon. She can deal damage but can’t take it. Fortunately, we’re here to make sure you survive the Hiss. Here are 5 tips for Control.

1.Complete Board Countermeasures

When accessing a control point you’ll be able to upgrade Jesse and craft mods. However, in the last option, you can choose Board Countermeasures. These optional objectives will have you killing Hiss in specific areas of the map or in general using a specific function of the Service Weapon.

These are great for earning extra material and mods. In addition, if you don’t like the selection just select and abandon one to refresh the list. You can only select 3 at a time.

2. Launch From Anywhere

Both your powers and the Service Weapon can deal damage but your launch ability is invaluable. This ability is ideal for taking down shields and killing low-level enemies. However, if you can’t find anything to throw just hold down LB on Xbox One. Jesse will rip a piece of concrete from the surrounding environment to throw it at enemies.

If you need the extra damage. Fire extinguishers and electronics deal more damage, but they explode so stay clear. In addition, the heavier the object the more damage it’ll do.

3. Get the Pierce Form

Most of Control allows you to choose what weapons but Pierce is one of the best. This form can kill most enemies in 1-hit and is ideal for the Achor boss. Having it early on will make most fights a breeze.

4. Dropping High

Sometimes, you'll fall to your death. It'll happen but not all times have to be fatal or damaging. Before you get the levitate ability you'll get evade. A powerful power that allows Jesse to evade damage quickly. Time this right before you hit the ground and you can avoid damage.

5. Keep an Eye Out for Red Triangles

Control has a lot of side missions but the NPCs with red triangles usually have something to say. 90% of the time they will provide missions that expand on the world and give great loot.
