Doom: The Dark Ages Guide | How To Defend The Beach In Cover The Escape

In this guide, you will learn how to defend the beach and complete the Cover the Escape quest in Doom: The Dark Ages. You will follow each step in the sequence, using your movement and firepower to clear enemies, secure armor, and hold the line against a final demon onslaught.

Locating the Entrance

First, you need to find the large door guarded by a group of soldiers. Stick close to them for a moment—you can listen to their chatter if you like—and then prepare to move through the door as they finish their briefing.

Initial Engagement

Once you pass the door, you will immediately encounter chaotic combat. Jump down into the area below and start taking out the demons as they charge in. Your primary goal is to thin out their numbers quickly and avoid being overwhelmed.

Clearing the Corners

Demons will emerge from nearly every corner, so systematically check each alcove and overhang. You should prioritize the smaller “fodder” enemies before targeting the larger brutes. Remember that constant movement makes combat far easier—keep strafing, dodging, and relocating to maintain the advantage.

Advancing and Collecting Armor

After you’ve eliminated every demon in the room, the blocked passageway will unlock. Sprint forward through the newly opened corridor, and be sure to pick up any armor shards or pickups you find along the way to replenish your defenses.

Turret Defense

Continue running until you reach the mounted turret overlooking the beach. Climb onto the turret to initiate the final defensive phase. From this vantage point, it uses its firepower to target both the big demon leading the assault and the smaller enemies swarming around it. Stay on the move atop the turret platform to avoid incoming projectiles.

Final Notes

Once you’ve dispatched the last demon, you will have successfully defended the beach and completed the Cover the Escape quest.
