Get ready to take on the world of Oros with these tips

Far Cry Primal comes out this week and it’s nothing like the other games in the franchise. You won’t have machine guns, flight suits or any technological advantage to help you here. Practices and fighting were were very different in 10,000 B.C.. Instead of traditional weapons you’ll have access to deadly animals and the most expansive crafting system in a Far Cry game at your disposal. Gather the right resources and you’ll become an unstoppable animal yourself.
Use Stealth
The map of Far Cry Primal, called Oros, is huge and filled with animals and raw materials to scavenge. In the beginning Takkar is limited to his club, spear and bow and arrow to defend himself. Even if you’re confident in your fighting abilities taking the stealth route early on in the adventure is ideal.
If spotted you can take cover in nearby plant growth. Your bow can fire arrows without alerting other enemies, aim for the head and hit your target to clear enemy camps unnoticed. Enemies won’t immediately discover your location if you miss, instead break the enemy’s line of slight to regain your footing. This is especially useful for direct assaults, if you find yourself overwhelmed go into hiding, pick enemies off to put the favor back on your side and restart the assault.
Be Prepared to Adapt Against Beasts
Animals are different from humans from the way they attack. Equipped with powerful noses these creatures can smell you, regardless of cover, if you get too close. Once discovered these creatures will charge, at that moment you must decide either with an arrow to the head or use your club and swing. Choose quickly and commit, the smaller animals are forgiving but the larger beasts will ripe you apart.
Fear the Night
If you think getting attacked during the day is bad, when the sun sets you'll pray for daylight. Don’t worry, it’s not like Dying Light were mutated zombies will chase you down. Instead you’ll be actively hunted by deadly creatures hidden in the terrain. Want to survive, keep your club ignited and watch for enemy attacks carefully. Like Takkar the enemies in Far Cry 4 will use the environment to their advantage, especially when light is limited to your fire.
Loot Everything
No guns or technology are available in Far Cry Primal. Instead players must rely on the natural resources available here to build shelters for your tribe, make medicine, craft weapons and tools and manufacture upgrades.
Hunter Vision, similar to Eagle Vision, highlights resources in a yellow hue. While Takkar can only carrying a finite amount of each material, with a notification alerting that he reached his maximum capacity, collecting resources increases your chance of finding rare versions of each item. These uncommon versions of resources allow Takkar to build more powerful items.
Use Skill Points Wisely
Like in past Far Cry games Takkar will earn experience by defeating enemies, completing missions and taming animals. Once enough you’ll gain a level and a skill points. These are the tree skills you should invest into:
1. Health
Sounds like a cliche but dying in Far Cry Primal is much more common than other Far Cry games. Everything is out to kill you and it’s best to have a strong defense.
2. Taming
Having a powerful animal in Far Cry Primal is equivalent to equipping a Rocket Launcher. Beasts play a major role in Primal’s gameplay and the stronger the beast the better chances of surviving the most dangerous objectives.
3. Crafting
Material and crafting are a major aspect of Far Cry Primal’s gameplay. Investing in skills that make gathering and crafting less taxing is an ideal choice. Especially when you require more ammunition or better gear.
Take Care of Your Bow and Arrow
Takkar’s most reliable weapon is also his first, the bow and arrow. Great for stealth kills and deadly in head-to-head encounters this weapon should be upgraded to ensure maximum damage. Investing in the Bow Handling and Bow Sprint Reload skills will make things a lot easier for either direct assaults or silent kills.
Use the Owl
Regardless if you choose to use stealth or charge into the front door surveying the environment should be your priority. The Owl can tag enemies, give you an aerial view of the terrain and if upgrade rip the faces of unsuspecting enemies.
Tame Animals
The first taming ability Takkar gets is Tame Canines. Each beast has their own skill, requiring players to invest skill points in the Beast Master umbrella. The more taming abilities you gain, the more diverse your arsenal of creatures become.
The canine is an ideal starter companion. Wolfs are basis creatures with balanced statistics, and they’re reliable fighters. The most deadly creatures are the saber-toothed tiger and brown bear and can be ridden into battle.
However knowing what you’re taming is just as important. Canine’s consist of dholes, rare dholes, wolves, white wolves, and rare stripe wolves. They’re balanced companions that offer the right amount of range, speed, and attack power. They can maim enemies and prey so you can focus on other targets.
Wildcats are the second tamable group. They consist of leopards, jaguars, rare black jaguars, and rare black lions. Completing the prerequisites skill Tame Canines will bring Wildcats under your command.
Although weaker than canines these creatures more than make up for it in speed and stealth. If your intention is to remain hidden use these creatures to kill enemies from afar while you remain unseen.
For two skill points you can unlock the Apex Predator. These skill allows Takkar to tame brown bears and saber-toothed tigers. These vicious beasts can take on an entire camp of people and go one-on-one with Far Cry Primal’s most deadliest enemies.
Cunning Beasts is the final tamable animal group and requires you to have three skill points available tamed eight animals. Once done players can tame the badger and cave bear, Far Cry Primal’s most dangerous animals.
Complete Side Missions
One of the more taxing things to do in Far Cry Primal is killing random hostile NPCs. These tasks are short and completing them increase the amount of villagers in your tribe. Increasing your village population is essential to gaining access to new upgrades later on in the game. If you neglect these quests you’ll find yourself having to upsettingly grind for hours.
