Favorite Touhou Fights: Pt1
Games by FetusZero on Apr 16, 2010
Hey there people! It's been a while since I've made a blog now, and in my perilous adventure at making Danmaku more widely known, I've decided it was time for me to introduce my favorite boss fights in all of Gensokyo. For those who might not know, Gensokyo is the main "village" where everything Touhou happens and where everyone cheerfully enjoys tea. The whole gimmick about tea is simply because in every endings of Touhou, it always includes a cup of tea. But on to the more serious things.
In this blog, I will show the art cover for each of the games, the gameplay video of myself defeating my favorite boss in each of the main games which includes, in my situation, the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th games. The reason why I do not include the first 5 games is because they are old PC-98 titles and they do not exist anymore apart from being emulated. Therefore, since I do not own any of these, they will not be covered. The 12th and 12.5th titles will be unveiled in the last blog, Part 3, as they are the ones I received today and the main cause to my current blog.
Every videos were of course, recorded by me and done on the Hard difficulty to show more of the beautiful bullet patterns. This took me quite a while to do as I usually play on Normal and even then, have difficulties to finish the game. For every and each video, it was my actual first time ever trying to beat these bosses on Hard, so bear with the mindless deaths that sometimes occurs. Every video has been fast forwarded during the stages yet kept at normal speed during the bosses. This feature was present in TH7 and 8 for the replays I think, therefore I edited the videos for the remaining games myself to fit those kind of replays.

6th Touhou Project ~ The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
My favorite boss fight in this one clearly is Hong Meirin in the third stage. While not my favorite character (rare are my favorite bosses my actual favorite characters in the games), she has the prettiest danmaku patterns of the whole game in my opinion. It's colorful and beautiful to the eyes and somehow, reminds me of flowers and rainbows. Hong is the gate keeper of the Scarlet lands as I like to call it, and she is quite powerful.

7th Touhou Project ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom
The one game that started it all for me. Perfect Cherry Blossom was the first Touhou game I had ever played and I've been addicted ever since. My favorite boss in this one is Alice Margatroid. Strangely enough, she is also my favorite character in the game. She likes to wander around with her dolls and she delivers quite the spell cards. I expected more color from her on Hard, but curiously enough, there were more colors in her attacks on Normal. Her spell cards very strangely reminds me of love, though I can't say why it does.

10th Touhou Project ~ Mountain of Faith
I finished this game for the first time ever yesterday, but I still took the time to capture Nitori Kawashiro on Hard before beating it on Normal. Nitori packs those flashy blue bullets and I've got a small something for flashy bullets. The patterns she uses were quite amusing on Normal, but on Hard did I ever received a surprise! Those bullets forming orizontal waves is my favorite spell card coming from her as it feels claustrophobic, but then again, most of her attacks feel like this without really being it. Quite mysterious. Once again, she isn't my favorite character in the game, Hina deserves this spot ;p

That's it for part 1 of my favorite Touhou bosses. The reason I didn't include TH8 instead of 10 is because I barely can reach my favorite boss on Hard, but I definitely can't beat her yet. Next blog will have TH8, 9 and 11, while the third part will be the unveiling of my newly acquired titles from the series.
The reasons I love Touhou so much are all in these videos: Excellent music, beautiful bullet patterns, enjoyable characters and very strange stories such as stealing the spring from humans to create the perfect cherry blossom in order to revive a spirit, or bring an eternal night by changing to a scarlet moon. Not to forget one of the most important part: Extremely challenging, widely enough to drive me crazy at times. The difference is that a computer costs more than a controller, therefore I don't break anything in my path.
I truly hope you've enjoyed these videos although this is yet another simple blog based purely on my own addictions instead of a well thought out news report or a big story, but when I share something, I want to share all of it to the best I can. Plus, it helps filling in the holes when I have no other ideas for technical, well thought-out blogs ;p
