So, you want to 100% Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima? If you’re going to be doing that, I have some tips for you. It is not an easy journey. You have to trek across all of Tsushima, finding everything there is to find across the rich open world of Tsushima. I have a few basic tips which should be able to help you find your way.

Guiding Wind and Traveler’s Attire

Ghost of Tsushima: Jin wearing a fully upgraded set of Traveler's Attire

If you’re looking to collect everything in the game, then there are easy solutions to find some of it. The Guiding Wind mechanic, which Sucker Punch chose in place of distant waypoints, can be upgraded with Technique Points. Guiding Wind can be upgraded to be directed towards Hot Springs, Shinto Shrines, Fox Dens (Which lead to Inari Shrines), and Vanity Gear. These upgrades are in place of powerful abilities, so you need to be careful. If you’re confident in your combat ability, or you’ve gotten to the late game, these upgrades can be a sure choice. Otherwise, you may want to consider waiting to get these abilities.

Another major boon to the avid collector are the Traveler’s Attire. This “armor” is not meant for combat, but rather designed to help you find more items on your journey. This armor gives an upgrade to Guiding Wind, allowing it to search for Artifacts. It also uncovers the Fog of War on the map in a larger radius around where you’re traveling. It is not the best armor for combat, but you get a major advantage to collections. If you’re worried about coming across wild animals or Mongol Raiders, you can just quickly swap out into your fighting gear, whatever it may be.

Talk to Everyone You Can

Ghost of Tsushima: Ryuzo and Jin against the Mongols

While its possible to just stumble across a new location in the world, you can tailor your experience more closely by just talking to people. You’ll unlock new rumored locations which might lead you places you never expected to find. The biggest benefit to just speaking to everyone is that you’ll know what you’re getting. If you’re looking for certain types of Charms or a certain amount of Experience, Rumored Locations for various Tales will tell you all about those. The rumors will help you in various ways. They can point you towards Yamato the Musician and Legendary Gear or Techniques, or they can point you towards side quests that you might be missing to get your 100%.

Use Everything You Have

Ghost of Tsushima: Jin executing an Enemy with an Assassination

Ghost of Tsushima is about sacrifice. Jin sacrifices everything he has ever known to defeat Khotun Khan, and sacrifices his entire livelihood to drive the Mongols from Tsushima. What better way to honor that sacrifice than using what you have. This was a mistake I made earlier on in the game. While I had stealth that I could use, I was far more interested in walking up to Mongol Camps and just declaring a Standoff. While it was fun, it wasn’t efficient. I spent more time getting beaten down by Mongols that I wasn’t ready to fight than actually defeating their leaders and clearing them out.

The best option is to make sure you’re using everything you have whenever you can. Use your smoke bombs and your kunai. Assassinate people, use your Bow or  your poisons. Jin has sacrificed the life of a Samurai to save Tsushima, and if you’re going to drive every last Mongol off his island, you’re going to have to do the same thing. There isn’t an easy way around it. To an extent, you can play however you want to play, but if you want to be the best, you’ve got to do everything you can.
