Korean MMORPGs

More of the same with better eye candy?

Okay. I play lots of free MMOs. And I mean LOTS. Why?

1. I'm broke. Won't be seeing me play WoW anytime soon.

2. I like it better than Western MMOs. I'm actually a Westerner that likes the grind. I find that games like WoW and Warhammer are a bit too PvP-oriented, and tend to have exorbitant amounts of drama in them. Both of which, I dislike.

3. They're fun and pretty. And also free. Perfect place for friends to hang out at.

Anywhos, onto the main topic. There's been plenty of news these days of new MMOs coming out of South Korea. All of them look spectacular. However, it's probably best described as just more of the same with more delicious eye candy on top. Koreans know the full meaning of the word grind; it's their way of life when it comes to online gaming (Starcraft!).

Will it remake the genre? Or be more of the many oh-so-generic MMOs coming out of Korea?

P.S. I don't like PvP in MMOs because there's no challenge in it. Since it's essentially based on a damage system, and highly dependent on equipment (last I remembered, you don't stick a pretty jewel into a stick and say it does +10% lightning damage in real life), it just sucks. The "true" PvP is in anything that's not an MMO. Like Call of Duty.

P.P.S. For those of you who haven't tried a free MMO, anytime's a good time to really start playing so you can get what I'm talking about. If your friends also play MMOs, that's a plus. But avoid anything heavily westernized like AeriaGames or Nexon Corporation, because the games they own are the epitome of grind.
