Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII compared to Dark Souls and Resident Evil

Producer of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Yoshinori Kitase told Famitsu, translated by Kotaku, "If I were to describe the gameplay...I'd say that there are some elements [in Lightning Returns] with the severity of [a game like] Dark Souls."

Kitase explained that "Thinking economically is very important in this game!" Players will start with seven in-game days to complete the game and a finite amount of item slots, although this can be increased to thirteen by successfully completed missions. Think Resident Evil and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask combined into the Final Fantasy XIII universe.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is due to come out November 21st 2013 on Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan and February 14th 2014 in North America. It will be the final game in the trilogy.
