Mafia: The Old Country Guide | How to get to The Royal Box

This guide explains the route and actions required to reach the Royal Box in Mafia: The Old Country, describing guard positions, movement tactics, and the key moments leading up to the confrontation with the Baron. 

Scouting and initial approach

Use X-ray vision to get a clear idea of where the guards are positioned before moving. Identify the first guard and wait for him to patrol past the approach route; when the timing is right, neutralize that guard quietly. Press up on the D-pad to activate the vision and confirm guard patrol routes. Note that there are two guards in the immediate area, so plan movement around both patrol patterns.

Moving to the rear and timing patrols

After neutralizing or avoiding the first guard, run toward the back of the area and take cover while waiting for the next guard to pass. One guard patrols higher up on the route; time the approach so that this patrolling guard is not between you and the ladder access. Some NPCs in the area are indifferent to incidental movement, so use that to your advantage when slipping past sightlines.

Ascending to the Royal Box

Proceed through the adjacent doorway and climb the first ladder to gain elevation. Continue upward via the second ladder immediately beyond, preparing to perform light traversal. The ascent places you into the vertical approach that leads toward the Royal Box; remain aware of guard positions above and below while climbing.

Traversal and avoiding detection

Once on the upper ledges, perform the necessary parkour maneuvers to run across the gaps and avoid detection. Move swiftly but deliberately to the entry point and slip inside through the doorway when patrols allow. A cutscene may trigger at this juncture; if it does not, continue following the route while maintaining stealth to avoid unintentionally alerting nearby actors.

Cutscene behavior and irregularities

A cutscene can start upon entry, and in some instances, the game may register odd NPC behavior that momentarily looks like being spotted. This is a situational glitch in which an NPC may stare without formally alerting the area. If this occurs, proceed cautiously—this is not necessarily a guaranteed alarm trigger. Loop around the interior route as needed and pass through the subsequent door once the conversation or scripted movement is complete.

Clearing the interior and using X-ray vision again

After passing through the door, wait until the scripted dialogue or interactions finish before taking further action. Prepare to neutralize the remaining hostile inside; use X-ray vision once more to confirm any nearby enemies. In some cases, additional enemies that were present earlier may have left the area, so reconfirm positions before committing to an engagement.

Arrival at the Royal Box and confronting the Baron

Upon reaching the Royal Box, please take a moment to observe the room; the area is notable for its visual detail and layout. When the moment to engage arrives, move to eliminate the Baron decisively using the approach and timing previously employed. The route described above leads you directly into the space where the confrontation occurs, allowing a focused and controlled engagement.
