Mercenary Kings isn't Metal Slug
A short rant on Mercenary Kings being awfully similar to Metal Slug.

From the moment I started playing Mercenary Kings, I couldn’t help but kept on comparing it with Metal Slug. I personally became most interested about this game is because it looks awfully similar with Metal Slug; one of my most favorite series of all time and I practically grew up on it. If it wasn’t for some of the unique features such as the inventory system and its RPG elements, Mercenary Kings could appear as an indie remake of Metal Slug. If SNK Playmore was the developer of Mercenary Kings I wouldn’t doubt this game as the latest sequel to Metal Slug.
Since SNK Playmore didn’t deliver the game, fans of Metal Slug surely going to recall a lot of old memories while playing it. Characters designs and their movements, stage designs, and even the music all loudly speak out the fundamentals of Metal Slug, while the newly introduced features remains as the only difference.
I honestly wouldn’t mind at all hearing Tribute Games acknowledging that they followed the basis of Metal Slug, because they’ve pulled this out extremely well. But unfortunately, when it comes to the intensity level, this game is nowhere close to Metal Slug.
