My Impossible Battle With YouTube
It would seem I never had a chance, I’m just too small to do anything about it

Like many gamers on the internet I upload videos from time to time. Sometimes I go the extra mile and edit video guides and Let’s Play videos that gain a modicum of views and likes. However over the past year almost all my videos I’ve uploaded were rejected from monetization. While YouTube reserves the right, as well as the company that own these IPs, to reject this my confusion comes from this one question. How can they reject my request to monetize a video when the company who owns the content allows me full use of the audio and visual content?
As you can see from the image above every one of my Titanfall videos have been flagged. This goes for multiple videos that under new rulings and regulations allow for monetization. It seems impossible to do anything. What’s worst is that each new day I’m bombarded with emails stating that other videos I’ve uploaded have been disabled for tawdry reasons.
When I adhere to the demands of the copyright infringement I’m still flagged. Whether it’s removing a song or cutting out an entire section of the video, new demands continue to surface regardless of how much effort I put into these videos.
Perhaps I’m being greedy. This content is owned by other companies and if they decide that my videos showcasing their content should be pulled they have full right to do so. According to David Jaffe, creator of the God of War series, “I really love watching gaming twitch streams and Let’s Plays. That Said: The arrogance (and ignorance?) of some of these YouTube broadcasters just FLOORS me. IF a company doesn’t want u using their stuff- which I DO think is pretty dumb- then that is their right. They don’t owe you the right to use their content so you can make your videos. Most of us in games want our shit streamed and talked about but you gotta respect those companies that want no part of it, you know?”. However when I supply a direct message from the company who owns the content that I have the right to use it and it still gets flagged than what else can I do? It seems like a futile effort, why even try to gain consent if I’m going to be rejected regardless?
Now you can easily dismiss my argument, after all I’m just one gamer with a small channel. I don’t have a lot of influence or a lot of followers to assist me in this. Instead all I can do is attempt to reason and provide the documents that favor my case. However it would seem I never had a chance, I’m just too small to do anything about it.
