My (Semi) Dramatic Return!

Games by DeltaX on  Dec 08, 2009

Ah, what a great time it is to be a gamer. All these nice little games, unnecessary non-gaming press attention, and console wars. What a great period we all live in. :)

But, enough of that! Christmas is coming up, so I'm sure we've all got games and such we want for Christmas. Well, not for me! There wasn't a lot of PC goodies this year, so I'm going to have to make do. But on top of that, my target for this Christmas is an external drive! For some odd reason, Vista seems to make fit to completely use up 130 GBs of my 230 GB hard drive. And with my current games going at 10 GBs a pop, it's constantly a battle for space on the ol' HD.

So where does the external come in? Well, I also got Dead Space in the time that I was gone. The immersion and gameplay is awesome, so I'm trying to make a gameplay montage of it. However, FRAPS is a beast, and just a 30 second video with half-screen size and full sound is nearly 1-2 GBs; not a good deal when space on my computer is already at a premium. On top of that, my Sony Vegas is just screaming to be used. It's just... sitting there, looking at me with sad eyes.

Now, moving onto Dragon Age: Origins. The game is very fun, and brutally spectacular for a somewhat-pen-and-paper style D&D gameplay, but for me, the gameplay is too short. In addition, I hate having to pay for DLC. And even more to that, the only characters that I really liked were Alistair and Wynne; Loghain's a jerk, Morrigan's a [expletive], Oghren's a drunk, Zevran was swordbait, and Leliana looks like Chucky, and my dog is an extra. And for the cherry on top with sprinkles and whipped cream, the PC version suffered (and still suffers, I suppose), from horrible memory leaks. I'm not sure how well it works on the console end, but having 5 minute load times walking from Redcliffe to the castle is NOT fun.

And I think it's time for a long over-due for a profile theme update. But I suck at Photoshop and can use rudimentary GIMP. Well, I have no ideas right now. I like anime, but it's a love-hate sort of thing, so I'll steer clear of that for the time being.

All things aside, what's your Christmas gaming gift going to be? :)

Cheers
