Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows Guide | Tips to Get Started

The Forsaken Hollows expansion adds two expeditions, new systems, and new routes in the Great Hollow. The area's structure affects movement, Rune flow, and boss preparation. The information below outlines how you move through the map, what you activate, and what you collect as you progress through each night.

Map Spawns

Your first spawn point influences your opening path. Some locations place you near Kaiden Soldiers, and this gives you fast access to Runes and loot because you can defeat these soldiers at level 1. Other spawn points place you far from any groups, which slows your progress.

Another spawn places you near a Cathedral with Karan enemies like Abductor Virgins. Engaging them at level 1 or 2 may seem unworkable, but their movements often strike enemies, which grants Runes without extra effort in Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows.

When you defeat these Abductor Virgins, each one drops several weapons. You may also find items such as Ghiza’s Wheel or Varre’s Bouquet. Before leaving the cathedral, search all chests; Balancers benefit from the supply of Sleep Grease found here.

Efficient Leveling and Early Progression

The Great Hollow contains few marked points, so your route depends on recognising open spaces where field bosses spawn. Field bosses supply most of your Runes, especially on day one. They do not appear on your map during day one, so look for open terrain where a fight usually takes place.

Your Nightmares finish on the upper levels of the map, so start by moving downward and then work upward. If you remain at the bottom when the storm closes in, your return paths become unsafe in Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows.

On night two, field bosses appear on your map. Clear them from bottom to top for Rune gain and weapon access. This pattern can take you to level 15 even without map familiarity if you engage all the field bosses you see.

Hollow Power

You will encounter blue crystals throughout the Great Hollow. Interact with each crystal to trigger the message that it cracks. You need four of these to activate the next step. When you activate the fourth, the crystal sequence completes.

The crystals appear on your map on night two, but collecting some on night one improves your pacing. After activating four crystals, go to the central crystal to obtain the Power of the Shifting Earth. This increases the refill rate of your Art Gauge after you expend all Sacred Flasks.

This power also removes the health-decreasing effect within the two forts at the map's north and south ends. These forts contain chains of boss encounters. Without the power, their health deteriorates. 

After you obtain the power, take the Spirit Spring upward and clear the tower for Runes and equipment. Completing this before nightfall provides an ample supply of progression items in Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows.

Limveld Switch Strategy

Before you learn how to run through the Great Hollow, use a different Shifting Earth to get to Limveld. You can consistently level up to 15 in Limveld and get loot from places like the Crater.

This also lets you learn patterns for Night Lord encounters. Knowledge of these fights allows recovery even during slow Great Hollow runs. You also gain relics for new Nightfares and unlock their Remembrance routes. Limveld also contains events linked to the latest Night Lords.

Caliggo Buff Event

While in Limveld, you may encounter a hail event that signals a Caliggo appearance. Your map marks the location. Travel to the fog, find Caliggo, and she will leave without a fight. This grants Runes and the Power of Cold Mirage.

This power triggers once to block a fatal blow. It generates fog around you and removes enemy tracking for a moment. The effect prevents death and gives you time to reposition in Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows.

Nihil Physik Against Moog

One new night-two boss is Moog, who uses Nihil. You counter this by using the Wondrous Physick, which exists in this content. You can find it in bleed camps or purchase it from Libra when he appears in the Great Hollow. 

If you are completing Balancer routes with Cursed Blade and Divine Beast Warrior, obtain this physic before engaging Moog.

Scholar Technique Tip

As a Scholar, your analysis skill grows in charge as you lock on to an enemy. When the charge fills, you can release it to create an explosion that knocks down light targets, parries heavy targets, and deals damage. The charge fills faster when you remain close to your targets.

Undertaker Hidden Ability

When both Undertaker's skill and ultimate are full, hold down the skill button to use up the Art Gauge. This lets the game automatically avoid all strikes for a certain amount of time in Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows.

Use this when you want to maintain pressure or avoid taking hits. Whether you spend the gauge depends on your weapon setup and your expected damage output.

Looting Practices

Throughout the Great Hollow, check every chest and corpse. Loot sources here produce stronger items more frequently. You can find equipment such as the Godslayer Greatsword inside ordinary chests. Treat environmental looting as part of your main progression path rather than relying only on boss drops.
