To beat Baba Nobuharu in Futama, you do not have to fight him head-on. This boss appears during the battle of Futamata Castle in the early part of the game.

While you can try to learn every single move he has, it is much easier to use your mobility to stay safe. If you keep your distance and wait for the right moments, you can win the fight without taking much risk in Nioh 3.

Managing the Boss Phases

In this game, the boss has a transformed state that acts like a second phase. If you find this form too difficult, you can actually wait for it to end. Eventually, he will change back to his normal form.

Staying away while he is transformed is a good way to keep the fight simple. When he is in his base form, his attacks are slower and much easier to predict.

Capitalizing on Openings

The best way to deal damage is to wait for a few specific moves. Watch for his charge attack, which he always follows with an overhead slam. You can stay out of range during the charge and then dodge the slam to land a couple of hits.

He also has a Burst Attack where he glows red before an overhead strike. Use your Burst Counter to deflect this move and get some free damage. If you are patient and only attack during these big openings, the fight becomes much less stressful in Nioh 3.

Handling Ranged Attacks

When the boss is transformed, he can use water or lightning attacks from a distance. If you see these coming, just run from side to side and use your dash to avoid getting hit. This is even easier to do if you are wearing light armor.

You can still look for the same charge and slam combo in this phase, but if you want to play it safe, just wait until he shifts back to his regular state to finish him off.
