Yatagarasu is a game six years in the making, finding inspiration from Street Fighter III: Third Strike and incorporating gameplay similar to BlazBlue. The game is a two-dimensional fighting game for PC focusing on reading body language to counter and parry opponents attacks. Yatagarasu features retro graphics, eight playable characters and voiceovers by celebrity game commentators. The game is accessible to all types of players, from veterans to newcomers alike.
The team behind Yatagarasu is small, consisting of only three members, all former SNK/King of Fighters staff. They recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to aid in the completion of Yatagarasu. If the fundraiser succeeds, a new version of the game will launch worldwide, becoming Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm. Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm has a funding goal of $68,000. This may seem quite large, but in comparison to other fighting game campaigns this is a significantly smaller goal because the team has a minimal overhead and will bear further costs.
When funded Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm will include two new characters, enhanced graphics and improved gameplay with stronger online capabilities. Online match support features rank match, lobby match and the option to play while waiting for a match. The full game will be translated into English with stretch goals offering French, Italian, German, and Spanish localizations. Hitting the $68,000 goal will allow Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm to be released worldwide on PC in English and Japanese, and an arcade version in Japan.
Like many crowd funding projects there are an overwhelming amount of options available to show your support. In the case of Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm 17 perks are available by contributing anything from $1 to $7,500. Contributing just $10 gets supporters a digital copy of the game, a digital art pack and a "backer" title in the contributor credits.
Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm's campaign is for flexible funding. This means if the campaign is unsuccessful most of the contributions will still be received. The contributions received will be used to fund as much of the project as possible with more time being put into development, but at a slower rate.
The PC version of Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm is planned to be completed around February 2014. With 45 days left on the Indiegogo campaign there is plenty of time to show your support and guarantee a copy of Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm. Visit Indiegogo for more information and to contribute.
