Sunday films Vol.6 : The Interpreter
Movies by ILIAS on Sep 13, 2009
Hello NoobFeeders around the globe. This Sunday I recommend you to watch "The Interpreter", a crime/thriller film released in 2005, starring Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman. It was also the final film directed by Sydney Pollack, mostly famous for "Three Days of Condor" and "Out of Africa".
Difficult to start from somewhere about this movie, so it would be better to introduce you some background facts. The story is about Edmond Zuwanie, president of Matobo (a fictional? African country), who's heading to International Criminal Court to stand a trial for ethnic cleansing and other atrocities.
The movie takes place in New York, particularly the UN General Assembly and Security Councils chambers , the first one to be filmed inside of it. The UN building gets evacuated because of a security alert and Silvia Broome (Nicole Kidman) gets back to recover some personal belongings. But Sylvia will overhear a discussion of an assassination plot... "The teacher will never leave this room alive"...
The US Secret Service will assign Tobin Keller (Sean Penn) to protect Silvia, but Keller will do some digging before giving Sylvia his full trust...
Quote of the film : Silvia Broome - Vengeance is a lazy form of grief.
